Roost Child Safety Standards

Roost prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in all forms. These standards explain prohibited conduct, how to report concerns, and how we address child safety incidents. They apply to all Roost users and to profiles, video calls, random matching, text messages, shared media, links, and other activity connected to our service.
Roost is exclusively for users aged 18 and over. Anyone under 18 is prohibited from creating an account or using Roost. An adult must not allow a minor to use their account. Our age restriction does not reduce our responsibility to address risks involving children. For these standards, a child or minor is anyone under 18.
Roost has zero tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE), including conduct that sexually abuses, exploits, grooms, coerces, traffics, or endangers a child. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) includes visual material depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and other material classified as CSAM under applicable law, including unlawful computer-generated depictions.
Users must not use Roost to:
· Create, upload, request, possess, transmit, distribute, promote, or facilitate CSAM.
· Groom a child, engage in sexual communication with a child, or solicit sexual images or sexual contact involving a child.
· Sexualize a minor or engage in sextortion, coercion, sexual trafficking, or commercial sexual exploitation involving a child.
· Share links, instructions, or tools that facilitate CSAM or child exploitation.
· Encourage, coordinate, conceal, or assist CSAE, including using accounts, calls, messages, or virtual gifts for that purpose.
Users can submit child safety concerns through Roost's in-app reporting mechanism without leaving the app. Use the reporting controls to identify the relevant account, content, or interaction and describe the concern. Reports can also be sent to service@roost.pet; email is an additional channel alongside in-app reporting.
Include the relevant user ID or profile, the approximate incident time, and a brief description where available. Do not download, copy, forward, or attach suspected CSAM. Identify the content through the reporting tools so our team can investigate without unnecessary redistribution.
We review child safety reports and prioritize concerns involving exploitation or immediate danger. While a concern is being investigated, we may restrict content, communications, or account access to reduce risk. We assess available information and take action according to these standards and applicable law.
When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM on Roost, we remove it or disable access to it promptly. Confirmed CSAE violations result in appropriate enforcement, including account suspension or termination. We may restrict related accounts to prevent further abuse. Necessary evidence is preserved securely as required or permitted by law.
Roost complies with applicable child safety laws and maintains a process for reporting confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant regional authority, as applicable. We make legally required reports and cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities. We do not require users to contact an authority before submitting a report to Roost.
Users should report accounts they reasonably suspect belong to someone under 18. We review such reports and may restrict the account while assessing age eligibility. We may request age verification where lawful and appropriate. Accounts confirmed to belong to minors are removed from access to Roost. Information is handled according to our Privacy Policy and applicable retention requirements.
We limit access to child safety reports and preserved evidence to authorized personnel and providers with a legitimate need. Relevant information may be shared with legally authorized authorities for reporting or investigation. Records are retained only as necessary for safety, legal obligations, or lawful investigations, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We seek to protect reporters' identities but cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality where disclosure is required by law or necessary for a safety investigation. We do not penalize good-faith reports solely because a concern cannot be confirmed. Knowingly false reports, retaliation, and abuse of reporting tools are prohibited.
Roost's designated contact for child safety reports, CSAE standards, and CSAM compliance inquiries is service@roost.pet. This contact coordinates review and enforcement and responds to inquiries from Google Play, authorities, and child protection organizations concerning our prevention practices and compliance. We keep the contact information current in our Child Safety Standards declaration.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement immediately. Roost is not an emergency response service.
These standards supplement Roost's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, available at https://www.roost.pet/terms_of_service.html and https://www.roost.pet/privacy_policy.html. We update these standards when legal requirements, service features, or safety procedures change and publish the current version on our website.
